Bring Your Wands!

Hermione is there so it has to be real.
MEL: Hey, El?
EL: Yes, Mel?
MEL: Have you packed for Orlando yet?
EL: That's not until this weekend and we have a gig in Pennsylvania before that, so...no.
MEL: You went to college in Orlando. Will this feel like a sort of homecoming to you?
EL: Um, sure. Why are you being weird?
MEL: I'm not being weird.
EL: Yes, you are. Wait. Are you...excited?
MEL: What are you talking about?
EL: You're EXCITED. Usually, you're just bogged down in logistics and details.
MEL: I'm always excited to do our show.
EL: But you seem almost giddy.
MEL: Well, it's not every day that we are so close to Ollivander's Wand Shop.
EL: WHAT?
MEL: At the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando! You can go to Ollivander's!
EL: And?
MEL: And your WAND will pick YOU.
EL: For $185, yeah. The wand will pick your pocket. Eh? EH?
MEL: Don't joke about Harry Potter.
EL: I love The Potter as much as you but you know we won't have time to go there, right?
MEL: Yeah, I know. But just thinking about the possibility of it makes me happy.
EL: We've been best friends for 25 years and I've never found you to be a bigger nerd than I do right now.
MEL: Thanks.
EL: You're welcome.

If you're in Orlando or Orlando-adjacent,
come join us on May 3rd and May 4th!

AND BRING YOUR WANDS!

Hobos like FREE songs

Mel: Hey, El?
El: Yes, Mel?
Mel: I've been trying to be more "living in the world" lately and less "living under a rock".
El: Terrific!
Mel: So I downloaded a few of the most popular albums that the kids are listening to these days.
El: Well, now you just said 'albums' so you've defeated your purpose, but anyway...
Mel: ANYWAY! I feel like all the new bands are Hobo Bands.
El: What in the world are you talking about?
Mel: Like, Mumford and People, Alabama Shakes, Lumineers, fun...or Fun!...or FUN...or whatever they are...
El: This is fun.
Mel: They all seem like they've hitched a ride on a steam engine heading West with a stick over their shoulder tied with a red bandanna.
El: Ok.
Mel: Every one of those bands has a woman in the corner playing a jug. Or spoons.
El: Yes.
Mel: I feel like they probably get paid in soup.
El: Well, I love all of those bands.
Mel: I really enjoy them, too. I'm just saying they seem like Hobos.
El: Are WE a Hobo Band?
Mel: This isn't about us, but no. We are not hip enough to be a Hobo Band. We don't wear vintage clothing. We don't even play an instrument.
El: I will play the spoons if you play the jug.
Mel: Why do I always have to be the one playing the jug? This is so typical.
El: None of this is typical.

ARE YOU OVER HOBO BANDS?

Let's look at each other in various places!

Being funny with our faces at a video shoot for NYFSF (see below!)

There are some things coming up where we'd like to look at you in your face. And just enjoy your face in a friendly way.

  • IN NYC! The ass-kicking theater company Studio 42 has asked us to host their Unproducible Smackdown on March 23rd. There will be plays. There will be winners and losers. There will be us. Wanna know MORE?
  • IN ORLANDO! Please come join us in Mouseland for two shows at the Orlando Cabaret Festival in early May. Wanna know MORE?

In between all of that, we'll be in other places called Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Check out our schedule to know MORE!

So, this one time at Bandcamp...

The next FREE Mel & El song is available on Bandcamp right this second.

It's "Facebook Is Evil". Because it is.

Since you're probably reading this on your Internet Device while toggling between your email and Facebook, why don't you press Play and listen to it as background music while you read inane updates on your Newsfeed about somebody's baby, dog or lunch?

And then you can post a link to the song ON Facebook!

Our minds. Officially. Blown.

XO,
Mel & El

Adult Women in Tutus

Sometimes when we perform on Anne LiPuma and Kit Stewart's Wild Women of Comedy with the amazing Jessica Kirson and Vanessa Hollingshead there is a sketch where some of the grown-ass producers dress up like Sophia Grace & Rosie from the Ellen show:

Flanked by adult women in tutus.

Sophia Grace and Rosie, in case you didn't know.
It was fun. And the audience was the most wonderful combination of lesbian couples and elderly Jews. What could be better than that?

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

Unfortunately, for us, in this well-known proverb WE are "the cow".

But fortunately, for you, in this well-known proverb "the milk" is a FREE SONG!

And the song is a rap about CHEESE which makes the use of this well-known proverb even MORE apropos.

What is this insanity of which we speak?

Free Song! (or, I Wanna Marry a What?)

So, we recorded a CD awhile back called Mel & El: She's My Bitch. You can check it out on iTunes or wherever else compact discs are electronically sold. Since then we've recorded a big, fat handful of more recent music and have decided to make it available to you super-easy-style on a site called Bandcamp. And the first song is available NOW!

You can just listen to the song for free on the site or you can download it for a buck if you wanna be able to take it with you on your iThings and such. Easy!

Our friend Chiffon Dior posted a little interview with us about it in case you aren't familiar with the origin of the song. Check out the article HERE

And then check out the song on Bandcamp!
